Den Gamle By
Den Gamle By is an open-air museum in the middle of Aarhus city, which is open all year. The museum is located in hilly terrain with streets and houses that come from different parts of Denmark, where they have been pulled down piece by piece and rebuilt in the Old Town. The houses are from different periods, and some of the houses can be difficult to get into if you are not walking well. For wheelchair users and walking impaired, it will not be possible to see many of the exhibits inside the houses. You must also be prepared for uneven pavements and cobblestones on the trip around the area. There are routes that are more accessible than others and you can get an overview at the ticket sales. Restaurant Gæstgivergården, Konditori Café Bonnich, Pølsevognen and a bakery ensure that you can get something to eat during your visit. There is also an area where you can enjoy your own food. The museum has 4 electric scooters, which can be borrowed for free. It is a good idea to book a scooter prior to the visit on tel. 86 12 31 88. There are disabled toilets in a building behind Møntmestergården on Torvet and in the exhibition building with the poster museum and the art chamber.
